Here's an idea of the kitchen layout. The window you can see is south-facing. There is another window on the west wall, and a door to the front porch on the far side of the island. The main door into the kitchen is on the east wall, and opens facing the end of the main wall of cabinets.

I like it! is there enough room to have the dishwasher down being loaded and someone walking around the outside of it?
Also, can the window be bigger? I guess I think the more natural light the better.
that's the only original window that is staying in the house. but there's a HUGE window on the east side. and there's 72" between the banks of cabinets, so yes, lots of room!
whoops, I mean there's a big window on the west side.
